Speaker Bio
J. Scott Armstrong
J. Scott Armstrong (Ph.D., MIT, 1968), Professor of Marketing at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania is a founder of the Journal of Forecasting and forecastingprinciples.com. He is also editor of Principles of Forecasting (Kluwer 2001). He is a proponent of evidence-based methods: This has led him to conclude, among other things, that climate change is an anti-scientific political movement, tests of statistical significance harm rational decision making, universities slow the rate at which students learn, managers who aim to increase their firm’s market share harm their firms, and the use of peer review to decide what papers should be published harms scientific progress.
